Module 20 Post 1

Questions
-How can I use reciprocal teaching or reciprocal questioning within my art lessons?
- What would be an example of inquiry learning?

When talking about the information processing theory, expository teaching can relate to it. One of the key strategies to help storage in long- term memory is organization and you can do this by connecting prior knowledge to new knowledge. When doing this, it helps students store and retrieve the information more efficiently. In expository teaching, teachers use past knowledge to integrate it with new knowledge by presenting them with advance organizers. Advance organizers are effective because they help jog the students' memory.

When reading about cooperative learning, it reminded me of Vygotsky's theory of cognitive development. In Vygotsky's theory learners use intersubjectivity in which the two come into the task with different knowledge and perspective. They work together in order to perform the task. In cooperative learning, the students need to work together and also depend on one another in order for succession. Scaffolding can be used in providing support for the students to finish the task.
