I don't understand why task commitment has anything to do with giftedness.I've never heard of cross-grade grouping and it would be interesting to see how it works in a school.

Creativity is a form of higher order thinking because it proves how well you know the subject. You have to know what 'inside the box' is to think outside the box. If I didn't know how to play a game, I wouldn't be creative with it's rules and tweak it.

Because I will teach in the band setting, I will constantly encourage creativity in my class. I plan to incorporate composition projects, rock band projects, and other creative projects into my class so that every student has the opportunity to explore and learn through creativity! I think for these projects, it is important to hand out a rubric before they begin the assignment that way they can be creative, but still know what they need to prove to get the grade they want. This way, they have a goal and they can be as creative as they want to be and it's a fair way of grading.
