Module 10 post 2

-When working with differen types of culture there are many issues that I will have to deal with as being an elementary teacher. The first thing I may have to deal with is the students that are bilingual. This will probably one of the biggest problems that I need to learn how to deal with. I can't assume that every student in my classroom knows how to effectively speak english. Also, there are cultural differeces as far as behavior in the classroom. Different cultures act differently in situations. For example, it maybe normal for students to kiss each other when they greet each other in a different culture other then the United States. Here it is mostly just a handshake or a hug that is appropriate for children in elementary school. I may also have to deal with what students wear to class. Wearing t-shirts and shorts maybe acceptable in mexico to wear in the winter time because it is very hot, but in Indiana in the winter time it would not be acceptable, or healthy to wear these in the wintertime. With students coming from different backgrounds, some subjects maybe more important to corresponding cultures. Therefore, each student may not be the same level in the same subjects. I may have to spend more time on different subjects corresponding to what troubles the students have.
-Some of the most important aspects that I want to includ in my classroom are respect, trust, responsibility, dedication, and the golden rule. Respect is important because everyone neeeds to treat everyone how they woud want to be treated, which is the golden rule. If students don't respect each other then they will treat each other poorly and cause problems within the classroom environment. I want to include trust because I want students to trust me as a teacher that I will effectively teach them the correct material, and by the end of the year they will know everything they need to know. I also want students to trust each other. Resposniblity is important because I want my students to know that doing school work is what they are responsible for during the school day. Dedication is important because to be succesful at anything you need to be dedicated and motivated to do well. If students are dedicated and give full effort on their school work then they will be successful. These asepcts are all equally important when creating a school culture. These traits should be used outside of the classroom culture as well. If students portray these aspecs then there should be a positive classroom enviornment throughout the school year.
