- My favorite learning theory from previous weeks was social cognitive theory. This one was my favorite because it relates to the outside world and how people effect the learning of others. The models are the ones that teach others through their actions. One learning theory that I like was inquiry based learning. Actually I was enrolled in a class last year that was all inquiry based. All we did were activites that we learned from and it was really benefitifal. However, social cognitive theory and inquiry based learning don't really go hand in hand. They do not because from inquiry based learning one is performing activites on their own and learning from it. While social cogntive theory is when someone is learning based off of someone elses actions.
-A lesson I could use when dealing with inquiry based teaching would be a hands on activity. For instance. I could use this inquiry base method when dealing with addition lessons. I would give a worksheet that has different questions of addition. Then I would give out chips that go with the work sheet. Then the students would have to get the corresponding chips with the corresponding questions. They would learn by getting the chips counting them and seeing that when you add two different sets of chips then they make a total. This is an inquiry based lesson plan because students are doing an actvity to learn how to add. Therefore, they will think back to the lesson plan and remeber how they added two groups of chips together.
