Module 16/17 Blog 2

I made the first shot from a few yards away (about fifteen feet), and I felt confident doing it because I fell like I am capable of making it from that distance. I made the shot and then I took three steps backwards for the second shot. I missed this shot, but it was from fairly far away. I am confident that I could make it with a second try though, but I felt like I should have made it.
I think I made the first shot because I knew that I could make it from that distance. But the second shot was harder because it was from farther away, and especially in comparison with the first shot, the trash can looked significantly farther away. I still felt confident, though, so I think what I can relate from the chapter is that by knowing that I could achieve the task set before me led to achieving that task.
I think I still felt confident, even though I missed the second shot, because I set a reasonable goal. The first shot may have been easy for me, but seeing it go in was definitely a boost for my second shot.
My confidence levels were the same between shots, and increased if anything. Like I said in the previous paragraph, I think this was due to the fact that I made my first shot.
I blame missing the second shot on my ability, both mental and physical. Mentally, depth perception and sense of distance only increase with practice. Likewise, the muscles in my arm and wrist will increase accuracy only with practice. Practicing shooting sandwich wrappers into a trash can is definitely within my control, so if I wanted to become better for next time, I definitely could if I wanted to.
