Module 23 Post 1

-One question I had was about the consensual asseessment technique. The consensual assessment technique is when teachers collect samples of students' creative work and then rate its creativeness. My question is if the teachers are rating the creaiveness then isn't it basically opinionated and the scoring would not be universal schoolwide?

-Creativity is critical thinking because it triggers thinking outside the box. To be creative divergent thinking is displayed. Divergent thinking is the ability to "think outside the box" by generating multiple ideas or solutions to a problem. Critical thinking is defined as taking information and analyzing it, evaluating the information, using it to connect to outside sources, summarzing, and ect.. Therefore, to be a critical thinker one needs to be creative to think of ways to think outside the box and dig deeper into the meaning of whatever one is reading, analyzing, or reviewing. In my content area I can use creative thinking and creativity to help students understand the text that they are reading. At the grade of first through third, students are just begining to learn how to read, and then as they progress during school they learn to use reading as comprehension, to learn from the reading. Therefore, at first grade I could have students start to analyze the text and find their own ways that help them learn to understand the reading. I could have students read a short easy story, and then have a worksheet to go along with the reading. They will have to use divergent thinking to come up with ways to find the answers to the worksheet, and learn more about reading they have just done.
