-This is moviation is effective because Terry Tate must be a famous football player, by the skills that he is performing in this commerical. Rebook is a running shoe brand that Terry Tate is supporting and promoting. Therefore, Rebook helps him be successful since he is wearing the product while he is on the field. His blocks in the commerical look very impressive, what football player wouldn't want to be able to make blocks and tackels like those. Young aspiring athletes may look up to Terry Tate and consider buying Reebok. They will be movitavted by Terry Tate to perform just as well as he does on the football field.

This an interesting example of Terry Tate acting as a vicarious model, and was not an idea I'd thought about before.
ReplyDeleteI was asking a different question than the way you interpreted it--I wanted to know how Terry's actions in the office motivate his coworkers. Rather than being a model, it's clear that Terry is providing a very strong form of punishment for behaviors that lower productivity.
This answer is very interesting because I felt close to the same as you did, but in a different aspect. I thought that while this example would bring fear and nervousness to the environment, they would get their work done! This example is very painful to watch and is very exaggerated, but shows how certain kinds of motivation can be used in different environments.
