-The most important thing I would emphasize in my classroom is the musicality and technical proficiency proved in their playing. They can achieve this by anyway they want. For example, I learned my tone from listening to models and I learned phrasing from theory. Some students might learn their phrasings by listening to recordings and learn tone by researching how best to create the appropriate embouchure. As long as the result meets the standards I set, the students can learn in whatever way they feel is best for them.

-I am a huge advocate of incorporate all kinds of learning into the classroom. I will teach band, but I won't just teach the music on the page; I will teach the history of the piece, how it was composed, the theory of the music, and then incorporate all of that into the musical interpretation of the printed music. Students who have a high self-efficacy in math will identify with the theory aspect, arts to musicality, history with music history, etc. I won't just teach a band to play music, but when any student of any culture leaves my class every student will have learned something they can identify with and can learn more about on their own if they wish. I will have a variety of assignments ranging from playing tests, to papers, to creative projects. By offering this array of learning opportunities for my students, students from every culture can benefit and learn in their own way.
