Blog Post 2 Module 10

-Some cultural differences that I must be most sensitive to in my content area is the cultural importance of competition to students. In my field of physical education, many students are very competitive because that's how they are raised. On the other hand though, there are many students whose backgrounds do not emphasize competition as much as the importance of enjoying the activity that they are participating in. This is a dilemma that all PE teachers find themselves in because they must promote the importance of healthy competition while keeping in mind that PE is about learning to enjoy physical activity so that they will continue with it further on in their life.

-The culture that I would like to create in my PE classroom is one of healthy competition. Competition is important in PE but the emphasis will be on HEALTHY competition. Knowing that it's a competition but also knowing that it isn't the end of the world because it is just a game. This culture will help kids come together to fully participate in class because they will know that in the classroom nobody will get picked on if they lose because it is just a game but they will know that it's important to do your best. I believe this is the best atmosphere for a PE teacher to strive for in their field.
