post 2! (module 11)

On the TV, I saw a show about archers, but the archers decided to go after real animals this episode!  They went after a polar bear, an elephant, a moose, a rat, a cow, a crab, and a fish in a fishbowl!  The archers' weapons of choice were (obviously) their bows, , a comb, and scissors.  When they got hom from hunting the animals (successfully!), they were so exhausted and hungry!  So they had some cake, donuts, and a WHOLE JUG OF MILK!!! (as a present to themselves for their successful day of hunting!)  They were planning on going to bed after their healthy meal (or at least to go have a great sit in their easychairs!)  They were all excited to put on their hats and watch their favorite tv show, Clown-Fairies.  But then they saw another rat in their house!!!! So, of course, they used their handy-dandy rat-trap to kill it!  Not the most merciful of men, for sure!  And that was the end of the episode!

I was very surprised that I didn't remember all 20, and only 11 images.  The two minutes felt like such a long time! I was sure I wouldn't forget any, but as I was writing them down, I forgot the other half!  It proves that using what was learned and incorporating it into something you create yourself (and the simple act of writing the words down in the story) has a HUGE effect on your memory of the words!  The storytelling effects both sensory memory and long-term, because you are writing the words down, which adds a sense of "touch" and lots more "seeing."  As far as the long-term memory goes, the story provides a huge increase in the likelihood of remembering the words later.  You now have a context through which to associate the words.
