An activity I could teach successfully using more than one brain pathway would be is playing a simple tune on the piano. I could show them a diagram on a TV screen that would highlight the proper keys at the right time to play the tune this would utilize images to communicate the objective. As well as showing the highlighted keys I would teach them the proper technique with their hands in order to use the dorsal stream. This creates engagement for the student. After this I would have them practice the tune in small sections and give constructive criticism by presenting more efficient ways to play. This persistence and repetition helps augment their memory along with the evolving views of playing the tune. These three pathways would lead to a very effective learning of a simple piano tune.

  1. This is similar in the way that I would teach my band/orchestra class how to play a certain new piece that they aren't yet familiar with. You presenting a program on TV to show the keys on the piano is similar in how I'd present a powerpoint presentation on the phrase structure and musical form of the new piece in the rehearsal class.
