Blog Post 2 Module 6

When I am teaching choreography or learning choreography I find myself getting the best results through repetition. The cerebral cortex is a large part of the brain that is responsible for the some of the most important brain functions when it comes to ballet and those include sensation, voluntary muscle movement, thought, reasoning and memory. The thought and memory could be increased by showing videos or allowing your students to listen to the music they will be dancing too. There are many parts of the brain and they are able to work together with the help of brain cells which are also known as neurons. Although the size of one's brain does not change too much after the age of six, growth spurts can be seen from ages six to thirteen. Visual and physical repetition can strengthen parts of the brain.

  1. I agree with repetition with choreography and dancing. The same can be directly applied to playing wind instruments in orchestra when it comes to sensation, voluntary muscle movement, memory, etc.. Allowing the students to listen to a professional recording would really help also.
